First oil change.

Featured Replies

My dealer has just told me that the first oil change should take place at 15000 kms but having done nearly 7000 already (in as many weeks) I think I might do it myself now. i normally change the oil on my Morgan at this period. Since the first inspection only checks oil; coolant and tyre pressure levels I don't see the point in paying for that. What do you all think and would you recommend a good oil for a 1.2 TSI ?

Now I've just spotted the warranty exclusions. Hmmm.

Whilst I am able to carry out my own servicing, I opted for the finance package on my new Yeti so that I got the first three services paid for by Skoda. My reasoning was that I didn't want any possible arguments, during the warranty period, should I need any work carried out. You know, ' it hasn't been serviced properly and that's caused the fault' kind of response at service reception.

I am fully aware that 'Block Exemption' should mean that they can't refuse warranty if owners can prove servicing HAS been done with genuine parts but didn't want to take the chance with the first new car I've ever bought with my own money in 50 years driving.

Love my Skoda and haven't had any warranty problem except one rear door clear plastic foil ( like cling film) needing replacement as it was loose on one corner.

Is your car on Fixed 1,5000 km / Annual Servicing 372 days for oil and filter changes because you paid for a Service Plan,

and not set for Variable Servicing as it could be.?

It has Long Life oil in as it came from the factory.

(possibly over 30,000 km before Oil & Filter change required with high mileage users.)

Thanks for the replies: The purchase was made through a French site (I live there), one of those where quite large discounts can be had. There was no provision for and we didn't pay extra for, a service plan and never have done. So fingers crossed. A great little car though and we ended up with a much higher spec than we chose initially purely by chance.

my trip computer is telling me oil change in 700 miles from now.. which puts it to about 9200-9300 miles..  I always had my mk1 oil change every 10000 whilist under warranty and I've not even checked the oil level so far.. but not sure what Skoda charge for an oil and filter change these days.. I'm always dubious about dealers given the bad experiences with two dealers in the past.. Claybank in Manchester and Grey Gables in Oxford.. treated me and my mk1 like scum they did. :@
