3 windows opened by themselves?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I came back to my car today to find three of the windows had opened - all except the rear passenger side.  It was raining, so obviously the car is now damp inside.

I could understand all four if I'd accidentally pressed the unlock button, but I was too far away from the car for this to happen, and it was only three of them, not all four.

Any thoughts?

Could still be the unlock button. Check that the one touch function works on the window that remained closed, if it does not then the window will not work with the convenience function.

Do not discount the range of the key, its quiet some distance. you don't need to be anywhere close to the car for it to unlock.

Once I had all four windows opened suddenly by no reason. Luckily I was driving in a parking lot with a low speed. After leaving the car (with closed windows, done by me) it locked itself :)

Then I unlocked it and everything was fine since that. A year has gone and nothing similar has happened but I'm a bit worried about leaving the key in the car - what it happens again? :)

I had that happen to me once while sitting in the car in a car park - all 4 windows went down. On another occasion around the same time I went out to the car one morning and all the windows were down.  Someone advised me that by using the remote while too far away (I admit to doing that), it scrambled some of the electronics. The cure, I was told, was to do a factory reset in Maxidot - which I did and it worked, I've had no repeat over the last 4 years.  I now never operate the remote until I'm within 10m of the car.

Thanks for the replies.  The one-shot close may not have been working on that window, as I ran the battery flat at one point recently and I'm not sure if I got round to resetting all the windows.  I'm sure one-shot opening worked ok though when I got it home (so I could dry it out in the garage).

It hasn't happened since.
