Manual boot release..?

Featured Replies

Okay, so if the battery in the fob goes, how do you manually open the boot.. having to switch off my engine to open my boot is really really infuriating to the point of belief.. why do car designers do this crap to frustrate us??? :wall:

Hit the "Lock" button on the dash, before you get out of the car.

Mine has Kessy - and that works. Don't see why it wouldn't also apply to non-Kessy. ????

I'm guessing this is a consequence of your car being set up for "auto locking above 5KPH" - daughter's late 2009 Ibiza always catches me out when I go to pick wife up after she has been shopping, I just never seem to remember to press the "UNLOCK" button as she approaches the boot area!!

Strangely enough, I still seem to be very keen to enable "auto lock above 5KPH" on her new Polo SEL, come to think about it, my Audi S4 also has that problem (keeps its boot locked due to "auto lock above 5KPH") - until either the driver's door has been opened or "UNLOCK" is pressed - but it only gets out of the garage on special days!

Not sure if it's connected with the Auto lock, rum4mo. Mine does not have Autolock set, and boot does not open with engine running. Or if I don't have key in my pocket (Kessy) -  even with all the doors unlocked. It's a nuisance sometimes - but I also appreciate it with prevalence of ne'er-do-wells around town.

Yes it is handy for these situations, I'd reckon that it is down to what has been programmed into the BCM - I'm sure that I've noticed an option for hatch/boot locking, maybe you need to get the programming changed - and then someone grabs stuff out of the boot - oh no!

Probably like me, "education" is the way forward then you will be able to view it as a "great feature" and not a nuisance?

no.. autolock is disabled.. it's more than a tad frustrating for Skoda to take such a shortcut and remove a manual release inside the vehicle.. it's not as if we would just open it for you average scumbag.. !?!?!  but when you drop the wife off at the in-laws and have to physically turn off the engine and press the boot unlock on your keyfob, it's what I call a complete pain in the arse!

No, not quite - you can leave the engine running - just press the lock/unlock button on the dash - and she can open the boot herself !

no I don't have all my doors to open at once.. I think it's probably that which is stopping anything.. If I open the driver's door, all the other doors remain locked including the boot.. maybe pressing the button on the dash twice may do it, as opening the door on the passenger side clearly doesn't deactivate the lock fully.. I'll check the settings.. in order to open all the doors externally via the fob, I would have to press the unlock button probably about 3 times..

Yep - I don't either. But when I use key as usual ( i.e. by keeping key out of Kessy range ) - one press of remote does the first-stage opening of driver's door, second press opens everything - including the boot.

And that's not pressing the "boot-button" on the remote either.

Otherwise - if I just get into car after one remote press - then pressing the Lock button on the dash, once - opens everything - rest of doors and boot.
