The Un-decided

Featured Replies

vRS or L&K 1.8T, I just cannot decide. Do I go for luxuary with plain looks and not as appealing to  or do I go for the vRS which will embarass a lot of sports cars out there. Can anyone give us some diplomatic views, I have read the vRS reviews but would love some L&K reviews. If there are L&K reviews please point me in the right direction <NEW MEMBER>. My main worry with the vRS is THEFT!!! and breaking in.

That vRS, that's a terrible car. DO NOT BUY ONE, awful car. Get one of those sensible cars like the L&K

You don't want people looking at your car as your flying past, you don't want to be over taking BMWs and looking at their faces

Let us vRS drivers have all the fun. Anyway we don't want loads of vRS's

running around now do we

Looks like the vRS mob have got a touch of the BMW conceitedness. Thanks for your reply, you have made my mind up. I will be getting a vRS just to hack you off!!! Look out for one with a Scottland sticker on it (Anti-theft north of the border).

While we are on the subject do you think the vRS looks better in Black Magic or Silver (Pearl/MET). I have heard a rumour about a 4x4 version of the vRS comming out soon, any idears?

:?:

Welcome to briskoda.

Dont know about the 4x4 version, this has been rumoured for sometime now, nothing definate yet.

Regarding colour, you can see all of the colours in all of the sizes by popping over to my website where you can find pics of the RS owners on this board and more.

Here is a direct gallery link, you need java enabled or the gallery buttons dont work

Hi and welcome to Briskoda.

L&K or vRS or 4x4.

Each are 1.8T engines so have similar poke (vRS more obviously out of the factory) but each have the same power potential. (Except maybe the L&K, I think needs more work on it)

Do you do alot of miles? Maybe the L&K features would be worth it.

Maybe the 4x4 is a fair trade as it has a fair few toys. The vRS has few but has the feel (seats, stance) to reward you with out of the box thrills.

The 4x4 vRS estate I feel is a myth, but the 2fwd vRS estate is due soon in the UK. Or Like Ian and I, take a normal 4x4 and modifiy it, same result give or take a styling kit.

Each and every car on the maket are prone to break in's, maybe estates more prone when you have the drag strip over the boot. Theft, not many new cars are stolen par chance due to imobilisers etc, it's mainly opportunists looking for an easy ride home, so target h reg scorts and alike.

Insurance wise, if it's an issue the vRS will be the most, but a chipped 4x4 for me (more power than stock vRS) is the same to insure as a stock vRS.

Hope this helps you in your thoughts. Just drive each one and be objective as you can, maybe quiz yourself over what you want from the car, the vRS is the main and obvious one to pick as it's bloody quick and nice from the showroom. But look past that and bear in mind each has the same potential, you can put better seats into the 4x4 but you'd struggle to put the 4x4 into a vRS logic :D

ps moving to general.

You enjoy racing past BMW drivers in an Octavia! I prefer doing it in a lowly Fabia! It surprizes all the 316i and 318i that my engine is more powerful than there's! Plus I get 50mpg!

Well, here's my 2p-worth......

I've actually had both a vRS and an L&K (long story). When I got the L&K after driving a vRS, I missed the following:

1. outright power. The L&K is good in mid-range, but lacks the vRS's top end.

2. Brakes. The vRS brakes are the best I've ever driven. The L&K has much smaller rear discs, which get very hot very quickly

3. Cornering. The wide tyres make it stick like a very sticky thing.

4. Flash! All those looks and glances

When I get back into a vRS after driving mine for a while, I miss:

1. seats. The sports seats don't fit my (generously-sized) bum

2. lights. The L&K's Xenons are brilliant. (But now optional on the vRS)

3. toys. Big computer display, sunroof, armrest, cruise.

In the end it's up to you. drive both, and see which you prefer.

Phil

Well I see you are manchester way, so if you want to see what a remapped 4x4 is like give us a shout, I'm sure we can sort something.
