Turbo cost?

How do!

car in trouble= 2009 fl 170 tdi vrs

Long story short- cambelt timing makes un-happy valves, valves kill engine! new engine fitted with new most parts apart from turbo, car smoking bad with a little blue and white smoke= burning oil but running well, dpf also removed.

Now here comes the fun part, because its burning oil, i had everything stripped back to see if there were weeping valves, leaking seals on the injectors etc. All is good and the only thing left possible is the turbo, the light on the dash comes on after a good long run when coming off the motorway onto a slip road or slower traffic.

I scanned the car and its over boosting for some reason, is it possible that the garage have fitted the turbo wrong?

I have it in my head that its an issue with the actuator either sticking or the diaphragm in the turbo is split! does this sound logical or could it be something else.

Also it keeps throwing up an o2 sensor error which is odd as the car has a shark stage 0 maps to go with the dpf removal, which should have the senor programmed out.

If the turbo is knackered, how much is it for a new one? or does anyone have a good one sat around for sale?

Any help as always appreciated

Chris.

Has it smoked since the engine was rebuilt? If so I'd be asking the garage that carried out the engine repair to take another look.

I had a new turbo fitted (under warranty) at DM Keith in York on my vRS a few years ago, it was £1,400. Obviously this is the absolute maximum!

Have you tried Roger Holmes on James Street, he's a VAG specialist.

Yep only smoked since rebuilt! but the valves did their damage on the old engine and I'm thinking that possibly bits might have found there way into the turbo? Damn £1400 would kill me at the moment. Any idea on just the price of the turbo?

think a new one from gsf are about £600 ish. Mind you you do get some money back when you take your old one back to them.

You can get exchange or reconditioned turbos, I think they start at around £300.

Sorry, must have hit quote instead of edit.

if the turbo has variable vanes, then it sounds like they are sticking - or a bit of the valve is jammed in there causing it to not open fully therefore overboosting!

I have my old oem turbo kicking around removed from 2009 cr170, replaced due to sticking vanes giving underboost p0299, haven't had a chance to clean it up, I am open to offers for it as is.

Item is located in Wiltshire.
