Multimedia/Navigation upgrade by Kenwood?

Featured Replies

Got today at my local Skoda dealer and they had these flyers "Kenwood skoda approved navigation upgrade.." Anyone knows or choose one of these?

Says £599 fitted in 1h, found it tempting, After some digging, I think is this one:

A bit of a kick into the RNS products.

They get very good feedback from folks.

If it is that unit they are offering to fit for £599 then snap their hand off! They are usually close to £1000 to buy alone!

Looks sexy :D I know another version had obd info support. So u can see all variables in the player. But what about antenna connectors from Columbus? And if u have premium Bluetooth? Which mic do u use etc. What about the 10 speaker sound system. So many questions :p

Yeah, they couldn't give me a clear answer, they said thats for the new fabia, as it shows on the flyer (see pic)09e7f33a5872260b5f49754661615466.jpg

Also they said "probably for the new range only" so S3 owners can get a Kenwood instead of a Columbus, etc.

But online it says they are available for all vw range.

That will be super cool to be available for replacing the good old RNS510s..

The one u linked to fit our s2's... But the last one in the picture doesn't.

Yeah that won't fit in your car. That is only for Octavia 3, Fabia 3 and Superb 3 (i.e. the new generation of stereos).

Cheers for digging. Made me laugh with the finance available 48 months you pay £24 a month with a 12,9% APR lol or £80 for a year. Obviously I won't pay 1k cash for it, hmm.

Yeah it's a lot of cash!

Do you already have a Columbus/RNS 510 in your car?

It's a external gps and microphone. I think this gonna be a problem for oem Columbus.

Have we got a definative answer on whether it can replace the Columbus unit?

I've got a 2009 Executive with multifunction steering wheel and bluetooth unit. Currently the Bluetooth unit only connects to a spare pay as you go Nokia and sound quality isn't fantastic. I don't think mine had the uprated audio package.

Screen mirroring for Android would be a real bonus. Waze beats my Columbus's navigation features for most trips, especially heavy traffic ones!

Any one had it fitted inplace of the the Columbus? Does it play well with the reversing sensors?

...am I wasting money on this  if I'm after better sound quality and not touching the speakers?

As digged by folks here, it says it replaces the columbus, WesBrooks, my superb is like yours, a 2009 Elegance with the 10 speakers pack, same bluetooth module (i've unplugged the connectors as I don't use it), tempted with that kenwood unit but..:)

Let us know if you got it :) and how it is

Not yet. I don't think I have the 10 speaker package. That's the uprated option isn't it? I'd like to do it but will need to wait to see what finances are like after the new year bonus! I'll keep an eye out for second hand ones.

I'd have to check how it works with the reversing sensors and before committing.

After finally getting the Columbus firmware done and the V13 maps I cant be bothered with changing everything!

Currently looking at a few used Octavia III VRS Estates, and alot do not come with the nav built in. Is there a definitive price for this unit fitted?

Think its this one, works via the "media" button
