Rear Window

Featured Replies

Hi...  last night l drove home from work and my rear window was still steamed up after a 30 minute journey... after having rear window heater on nearly all way home .. is ths normal...???   ( Mrk 3 VRS hatchback)

cheers

Perfectly normal if you have wet clothing etc in the car... if not then it suggests that water is in the car somewhere.

Was the heater working at all, i.e. lines appearing in the condensation along the heater elements?

And what do mean by "nearly all the way"? The screen heater switches itself off after approx 10-15 minutes. Also it doesn't work when the engine's off, for example when you're in traffic and the stop-start has cut the engine, the light on the switch stays on but the heater is off until engine restarts.

Hatch? If so, the boot design isn't awesome and does allow a lot of water in when you open it.

I'm on mobile so can't see how new the car is but I had a lot of problems with my estate steaming up when it was new.

Turns out the windows just needed a good clean on the inside every couple of weeks. Apparently new plastics give off some sort of vapour which leaves deposits on the glass.

I don't have to do it as often now the car is a couple of years old but a good clean with e-clothes and distilled water worked magic.

A bit odd that the headed windscreen didn't keep it at bay though.

Thanks for replying.. Will give a look to see if any water getting in .. Cheers

Run the climate control on auto with the ac on, this will suck the damp out of the car.

Doesn't seem to affect fuel consumption too much.
