Warranty about to expire

Featured Replies

We are just coming up to 30,000 miles on our Greentech SE Citigo, and were wondering if there were any common or obscure issues we should check or get checked and sorted before the warranty runs out.

We have had the some work done on the rear suspension, but other than that have enjoyed the miles.

Many thanks.

I'd see if you can get a free underbody check, also ask if they can check your exhaust heat shield clips, 1 in 5 have issues with those, mine did and it was done under warranty, there's a few mechanical bits and bobs underneath that might be worth getting them to check over if they're willing to do it

Haha dare you to take yours for an underbody check dave ;)

*Swallows deeply* I prefer to keep my money in my pocket :D

If you plan on keeping it why not find out how much it costs to extend it further. I think it was £200 for a 5 year warranty when I got mine. Worth it for the piece of mind.

Yes, I took the full 5-year factory warranty for an extra £200. Unfortunately, any warranty taken out at three years old will be a) much more expensive and B) much less comprehensive.

The £200 for the extra two years full manufacturer warranty was a bargain.

Skoda quoted me £375 for an extended warranty after the 3 years was up.

Thanks everyone. It's reassuring that there isn't a great long list of possible issues!

Any particular bits and bobs Hyphons? I didn't know about the heat shield clips, brilliant.

Will enquire about extended warranty, great idea and good to have some guideline prices, too.

Brilliant forum, this, glad to have found it.

Just general mechanical bits and bobs, cv joints the sump, sub frame and so on, should be all fine though as the car I assume is standard and not sat on its backside like mine :D

Yep, the Mondial Assistance warranties sold by VAG after the original warranty has expired have a list of exclusions as long as your arm. The extended warranties that you purchase with a new car are a comparative bargain but must be applied before the car is registered in the UK.
