Hi,

Has anyone ever come across this extremely annoying rattle, or clonking noise in the boot of their octavia?

I've had it ages, and have not managed to source the origin of the noise. The boot had been completely emptied to isolate any external sources, and i've tried manually bouncing the rear of the car, but cannot replicate the noise. The tailgate also doesn't appear to have any loose foreign object inside of it either.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Just guessing but maybe worn or perished lower suspension bushes. Could even be the rubber bush on the top of the suspension arm. Wont make the same noises when the car is stationary, as it takes a fait bit of force to replicate the travel when moving.

My car was diagnosed last week, and I am just waiting on a set of Eurothane bushes, rather then replace my rear struts.

Hope you find it, cos that type of rattle is annoying to say the least.

Does it happen if you change gear at low revs. Try and replicate it so you're at say 1000 revs, let go of the accelerator before pushing down to clutch so that the car shudders slightly. Does it rattle then too?

Not sure, other than its most apparent at low speed over uneven surfaces. I'll investigate further today.
