side decals , again!

Featured Replies

Looking at earlier post about side decals, think they look great someone said about what colour ones would suit a corrida red yeti, ive got a red yeti and was thinking maybe silver to match the outdoor trim , they do seem good value at€24 all in.any thoughts?

Would they look good on a white yeti with black roof (Monte).

Are they easy to put on?

Are there insurance implications?

Decide for yourself:

By the way - did this Really need a new topic? Could this have not just been added to the existing one?

Mine have arrived now but need a warmish day to clean the car and fit them

How warm do you need . It was 18 degrees C here yesterday.

(Apologies if you live in NW Scotland.) :rain:

here are the decals however it says it is best to use wet application but it has to be over 18 degrees (looking like a spring job)

Hi,

I would recommend advising your insurance company if you are planning to fit stickers / decals to your vehicle. In most cases I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem but it's worth checking.

Regards,

Dan.

Thank you - will do.

Why would they cause insurance problems? there are many vehicles with different kinds of owner put on stickers on the roads, are they all doing something I've never heard of before.

Beats me too.

If they don't reduce your vision and are easily removed, who gives the proverbial?.

Everyone knows that chequered stripes make a car go faster.

Exactly, joking aside, why do you think they have the nickname 'go faster stripes' - some insurers see it as an observation on the character of the driver and a modification. That said - you would be very unlucky for your insurance to be affected except for perhaps the need for a panel repair and their refusal to reinstate the decal. We all know insurers are a law unto themselves.

You can never tell with insurance companies. My wife had a Fiat Panda that I added after market side protector mouldings to and someone backed into the side of it in a car park. Unbelievably the other driver left his phone number and admitted responsibility! When we got the car back the side protector had been replaced, perfect match.

No quibble, no loss of NCD. You can never tell.

Dan, was it not you, who recommended Yeti owners to call you if our Ins' comp' got iffy over winter tyres etc.???

Why on earth would an Ins' comp be interested in side vinyl decals, on a Yeti????

So what about after market genuine Skoda Side Moldings.?

Or yuppies with their 'private school' stickers.

Well the decals arrived today , not what I expected I thought they had a shaded effect on them. The one's I got were just solid colour .staight in the bin looked cheap and nasty looking , not going on my car!

Hi Phil,

Well, I was a bit mystified as the first photo on the car showed a shaded effect (Post 3), but the second (Post 6) was a flat black!!  Wonder where the shaded ones were from?  Was tempted by the shaded!!

A while back somebody looked into getting some gradient ones made If I remember rightly it wasn't economic for just one set, So at the moment the only ones that are gradually shaded are the genuine Skoda items (Dark shade to go over light coloured paint) which starts almost transparent and shading to dark grey.

They also do a light shade to go over dark paint colours but these are solid white over the full length.

Both of these have the dark gradient decals

The shaded ones (Post #3 is my own car) are genuine Skoda parts.

OK ... getting there!  BUT is the black bar thingy above the shaded bit, part of the decal?  Or is that a part to protect the side of the car?

That is the side rubbing strip.

Don't have one of those!!  Have to forget about it I think!

May buy her a Betty Boop to go on the top of the aerial instead. :D   Much less hassle.

You don't need to have the side rubbing strips, the decals are separate.
