foggy windscreen

Featured Replies

Cheep tow cars struck again . After a clear mot nowsoon as I put he's on the windscreen blower it fogs up. Dose this sound like heater matrix to you? Haven't seen any damp but will have a good look tomorrow

at this time of the year I'd think about keeping the A/C on all the time. Might be worth checking the pollen filter too.

A couple of 'damp traps' in the back of the car wouldn't go amiss either :)

Got a new pollen filter in and got damptraps in each door pocket .it was damp after a big valet after I got it on the road but would of expected it to of dried out by now (left doors and boot open every hot day we had and parked in sun at work)

AC doesn't work needs a regas I think

And make sure 'recirc' isnt selected.

As said above, recirculation will quickly cause windows to fog up.

However, the most common fault in the Climatronic unit is failure of the air recirculation flap so if it is stuck in the recirc position, the effec is the same.

To find out, you need to run the built in diagnostic test which uses the buttons on the front.

It is explained in this previous post:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/209451-climatronic-self-diagnose-mode/?hl=%2B4fa#entry2481322

At the end of the test then 444 on the display is no faults found and 4FA is a failed recirc flap motor/gears.

If you have this problem then it is possible to push the flap into the alternative position, but not easy. There are YouTube videos showing how to do it on the Golf and Jetta for example.

Cool Il try that tomorrow . The wife said the air smelled sweet aswell when on hot air .

This time of year it could just be "they all do that guv' ". I'd start with a new pollen filter and cleaning out the base of the windscreen plenum (at the backs of the front wheel arch liners. This is way cheaper than a new matrix and "might work", but a sweet smell suggests you actually do have a leaky matrix.

Know anyone with a dehumidifier? I bought a cheap one the other week and it pulled pints of water out of my interior over a weekend.

You're correct. It's fascia out, so both a bee-hatch and a bar-steward.

Came apart quite well ,there was enough wire one the centre console to just unbolt it and lay it half in the drivers foot well ,and I left the steering wheel and drives airbag in ,most of the screws where the same so dident have to wory about where they went . Air con had to be disconnected but doesn't work anyways so no gas to wory about

If it's anything like when I had the dash out of my old transit, you'll have found enough loose change to pay for at least a pattern part.
