Until I saw this I wasn't aware skoda had made a Group B car.

This is from the very snowy and icy Valasska Zima Rally in Czechoslovakia, February 1984. It was the first appearance of the new works Group B Skoda 130LR - they entered 3 for testing purposes, facing opposition from Group B Ladas, and some west German Audi 80 Quattros.

They destroyed the opposition, taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall on the 20 stage event

Filmed by the factory, it obviously concentrates mainly on footage of the works Skodas, although theres plenty of the Ladas, Audis and privateer Skodas shown too.

With tarmac and gravel stages covered in ice and snow lots of full throttle sideways action is the order of the day - watch out for the nutcase in the Lada 2:33 into the video - nicely held!

The works Skodas looked/sounded realy quick not sure which!

The lada driver had a good drift going, should of kept it going and gotta love the sound of the Audi Quattros!

I remember watching the works 130's in the RAC rallies of the 80's ( when it was a 5 day grueller with only three rest / sleep halts !) ... John Haughland was driving the wheels off the 130 , but bent a pushrod somewhere in Keilder ... the service crew told him that he should visit the scrap yard not too far away where he could pick up another pushrod ( cost him about 50p ) to keep him en route to another class win

( *impending senility means that the dates and / or locations may be wrong in the above story ...* )

and if you wanna see one of them skodas then you need to pop along to bridgewater becuase theres loads with grass and bushes all over them in the old skoda dealers (ex skoda)

we found them after the TSR performance meet and there should be some photos about

Does anyone remember the 130R that used to run in the Wendy Wools Special Saloon Championship.....fitted with a 2 litre Hart 420 R engine.....and it wonnmany times
