Had a 1.2 TDI for 2 weeks now (2012, 19,000 miles).

 

Stop / start is active sometimes and not active at others - I do not understand what governs this.

 

Initially I thought if the engine was cold it would not be active, yesterday however when the blue light (engine cold - I was told) was on the dash, stop start was working when stopped and in neutral with handbrake on.

 

During the same journey, about a mile and a half away I stopped - handbrake neutral etc.. and stop start was not available.

 

can anyone enlighten me what is normal????
