Returning my L & K

Featured Replies

So this my first post as I was waiting to get my Superb L & K before writing anything.

After waiting three months it finally got delivered to work this morning, Business Grey and  beige interior.

Only problem is that it has turned up with a Brown interior.

After much discussion with the leasing company/broker and the dealer who supplied it apparently it was the dealers fault for not putting the order through correctly (although the paperwork was correct).

I have been left with 2 options.

1 - except the car and receive some financial recompense.

2 - Re- order the car (and wait another 3 months) and have a Free loan car for that period.

Let me state the car is fantastic but not certain I can live with the brown interior (personal choice, and also the same for others who have seen it).

I have it at home tonight and need to make a decision in the morning but unless I change my mind I think it is going back.

I'm really gutted as I have been waiting so long and love the everything else.

PS - I did not originally spec the rear wiper but having driven in the rain tonight I think that might change.

It's a lot of money for something you are not 100% happy with ....

The 'free' loan car might make it more tempting to keep the present car if you catch my drift! However, I'd probably want what was ordered so back it would go...

3 months isn't a huge wait.  Minimum order time down here is 5 months with the average being 8 months.  When the Golf R first came out the wait was 14 months.

Return it and ask for the wiper to be added (it's an FOC option anyway). As you've gathered, the hatchback really needs it and simply treating the glass doesn't appear to be an ideal solution as the air flow over the rear window makes the water gather into larger globules rather than cleanly run off.

Brown isn't as bad as many make it out to be but it only sits well with certain body colours and grey isn't one of them (my personal opinion).

No amount of financial recompense will stop you feeling peed-off about it during the years ahead.

Agreed... however on a lease car I would probably live with it.

You are obviously not happy with it so reject the car. 3 months is not so long to wait, and they'll let you have another car during that waiting time which is another plus point.

If you keep it you'll regret it every time you get in it and you'll never really enjoy having it.

Thanks for the comments.

My mate said that he ordered a BMW which was not delivered to his spec and it niggled him all the time he had it, so I think I will take his advise and send it back.

Just because it's a lease car(contract hire) I don't see why I should settle for second best - I pay enough in car tax etc to warrant the car I ordered.

To a lesser degree all of us who ordered SE business models have a similar problem, the wheels being changed. I decided to accept the different wheels but I know it'll annoy me for the life of the car. I may end up buying aftermarket alloys and then selling them on at the end of the lease.

Sorry to hear that, I know what it feels like!  As painful as it to wait, it is worth reordering as you will only regret it otherwise.  Whether its a lease car or not, you will have to live with it for a few years .  I was in the same boat as you a few years ago with the xenon light system plus a few other factory fit bits missing when I collected the car and was offered similar recompense.  It's a horrible feeling when you realise its not what you ordered but I was glad I waited (12 weeks as well).  I essentially had three months free driving and I was doing around 1,000kms a week it didn't work out too bad financially :)

As above, i would think my first thoughts would be to reject the car as its not a colour combi i would of gone for.

The Brown is not bad in good light and does look nice, however i think it needs a better contrast on the outside rather than grey, but just my opinion of course.

I would ask what the amount of  "high street vouchers" would be, my guess is £500, if so, re order... if they were to offer say a £1000 it could be a tough call...

How long is the lease term ? if greater than 2 years, think i would be in the reorder camp and confirmation the loan car is of the same CAT group size wise and not a Corsa!!

whats the outcome then ?

Cheers

We have had cars arrive after a long wait with the wrong engine.  Although all the paper work is correct.

It will annoy you no end, I will be surprised if you keep it.  My whole car annoys me, but that is another story:)
