We have 2 Octavias, One with 16" wheels & one with 17" wheels. As the outside radius of the wheel is the same can you buy chains to fit both ??

Also wheres the best place to get a reosnably priced but reosnable quality chains

You might be as well getting them from the other side of the water Stuart. As you are probably aware, they seem to have them for sale through winter in most big service stations.

Other wise this site may be handy, as it has a chain size calculator too.

Sounds a bit like overkill for this country though - going anywhere cold?

Don't use them on alloys unless made for them. They scratch the wheels.

Look for a post by Josh with his snow socks.

Ski ing at new year

Stuart,

go to http://www.roofbox.co.uk/ and from the menu on the left select Autosock, looks good to me  So much better than chains....

I know Josh used these last year and rated them highly.

But are the socks accepted by the french police as snow chains?

If they are not, and you are in a snow chain area, I believe they can fine you and impound your car.

Also looking for a solution for my Superb for skiing in January.

Cheers

Matthew
