'KEY BAT' on display - does this happen on a Fabia?

Featured Replies

We've recently bought a Mk5 Ibiza and 'KEY BAT' comes up on MFD display for a few seconds when ignition switched in.

I have changed the remote battery but still the same - is thus something that happens on a Fabia??

If so how do I get rid of it??

Many thanks

Dan

Never seen this on my Fabia.  Sorry.

I remember on old vauxhalls you had too put the key in the ing and push both lock and un lock at the same time

Not idea if that's the same and probs not but might do the job

Actually I had something like this flash up on my Maxidot just last week in a Mk2 VRS.

Is it just a reminder to change the remote locking fob battery??

Message popped up a couple of times on mine a few months ago.  I changed the key battery and it went away.

Our Ibiza still does it with the non-remote spare!!

Anything in VCDS to clear it as battery was changed...

Thanks

Dan

Has this message pop up about three times now and I haven't changed the battery, it still works fine!

Surely if the battery is low it would remind you every time?

Resurrection;

Today my Roomster poped up that "KEY BAT" message on my dash. Is that a remote fob key replacement warning or anything else? Both car and key - keyfob are working properly.

The way car immobilisers work is they check against the key to ensure the correct key is used and the vehicle isn't being hot-wired. I had a similar issue on my mums car after she spilt some coffee on it; taking the key apart, and a good clean with some 99% isopropyl alcohol, then reassembly, fixed the problem!

Sometimes if a battery change doesn't work, a quick clean with alcohol might help if rain or water has gotten in!
