EGR gasket

Featured Replies

Hi just fitted my 9mm gasket for the egr valve. Well actually I drilled it out to 10mm which probably makes no difference but didn't want to do the job twice so didn't want the eml light to come on.

Got a 25 mile trip to work so will see how it goes

Here's a picture of my fab with my 300hp s3 which I'm contemplating selling or cut my losses and go bug turbo for more booooossssttttt!

lovely SE :)

did you fit the gasket at EGR end or ex. manifold end of the connecting pipe?

Thanks, I fitted the manifold end and has been fine since. Nice and smooth and not the awful stutter anymore. It amazes me that 1 owner had 50k miles of that I've had the car a week and it's the first job fixed for £3

Crazy

I couldn't undo those 2 bolts at manifold end, what's the trick?   I put it to the EGR end and it did help, but still get it at 1800rpm.

EGR delete time I think :(

Lovely SE, low miles too.

Best place for that EGR though is in a scrap heap. Hateful things!

Also maybe a good idea to route the crank case breather away from the tip? A nice easy cheap mod...aka the elephant mod

I used a 3/8" ratchet with a 6mm hex which was the best way for me to get it then just pry the joint open to get the old gasket out.

I have seen the mod but I'm going to try and keep the mods to a minimum haha see how long that lasts

Can someone show a picture of where "at the manifold end" is please?
