Amundsen radio/media works but screen was black

Featured Replies

Strange, Started up this evening and noticed the Amundsen screen was black. The radio was playing and the right knob could change stations but I could not see what station I had. The Media also worked but anything that was not 'noise' did not, Nav, Car, Traffic, Phone etc may have functioned but I could not see it!

Tried turning it off and on, holding the Menu button down but nothing worked and the screen was still dead.

When I got home and turned off the ignition the screen reminded me to remove my phone, so not totally dead then. I then took the key out  and turned the ignition back on, the screen then showed the clock. I pushed the Radio button and the normal screen showed, as did the normal Menu screen .

This is the first and hopefully the last time this will happen, anyone else come across this ?

Mine did this few times for two years.

Likewise, this happened to mine a few months back. The next time I used the car all was OK. I assumed that being left with ignition off the system must have reset itself.

If you hold the volume control in for about 10 seconds it reboots the Amundsen and should fix it for a while.

Maybe we should request update?

My 2014 Elegance with Amundsen has done this once from recollection.

I have a virtually brand new GTD with the MIB2 Amundsen equivalent and in the past few weeks its done this + also coming on with the screen on but no sound...maybe 3 or 4 times so far so the MIB2 isnt any better.....worse so far from my experience...it is better than the MIB1 though.

Im hoping it'll settle down and stop doing it we'll see......

Thanks Andy, I will try that next time.

My MY16 Bolero has done this a few times at this stage. Until I figured out how to reboot it the thing often went a day or more like that.

I suspect my reversing camera is the cause of it. The only time it happens is when the camera has been used.
