Rear wiper & washer

Featured Replies

My rear washer packed up some time back, the pump was fine, just nothing coming out the nozzle.  I know they are prone to blocking inside the wiper spindle, so eventually found the time and how to get in there and hey presto, one face full of spray and it works.

However, while trying it I discovered that when it's blocked it comes out inside the boot panel instead.  Now the wiper has packed in.  It start being intermittent when it would work. Sometime it would only go half way.  Other times it would decide to do a full or part wipe when you started up.  Obviously this is fluid got to the motor/contacts.

When I discovered the fluid was coming out behind the trim what I noticed was where the pipe attached, then turn 90 degrees there are two small hole just as the moulding expands, one either side.  It is from here the water was coming.  Is this meant to be some form of pressure release in case it can't spray and this has now blocked/rusted partially open?  It certainly looks like there is still some fluid coming from here when you spray.

As for cleaning/drying the motor, is this a fairly simple easy job?

One last question, what's the name of the clips used to hold boot the panel trim on, some of mine are missing.

Thanks

I had the same issue. The lower (inside) end of the wiper motor axle looks like a dog was chewing on it. http://www.kephost.com/image/S7wP

In theory it is possible to change only the axle but I cannot find any replacement kit (any ideas on replacement kit? OEM number is: 1z5955711a). It seems therefore I have to buy a new/used one or a faulty where the axle is in good shape.

I think cleaning drying the motor won't solve your problem as "the motherboard" of the wiper motor is crapped.

Mine was the same, shaft chewed to ruins.

The water ingress had in fact made the movement a little stiff and that was the only problem, dismantle, clean and it worked fine, but wouldn't have last long before same occurred again.

Replacing the shaft alone isn't an option, of you look down into the plastic where it sits and the pipe attaches you will see that the chewed end has chewed up the plastic and the ridge running round the plastic that fits into the  groove on the shaft is knackered.
