Superb estate mk2 buying advice

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First post on the forum so want to say thanks in advance for advice and nice to meet you all.

After a lot of research about which estate to get I've reached the conclusion that the mk2 Superb is the best option. The vehicle will be used back seats down for humping heavy gear around for my business mostly but also as a family car (trying to kill 2 birds will one stone really, i don't want to spend all day driving a transit connect...)

With that in mind does anyone have experience of using the mk2/facelift as a genuine load lugger? On paper it sounds the most capable around, bar maybe the facelift 211 e class.

Secondly, (bearing in mind my budget of around 10k) which combination of engine, gearbox and trim is the most bullet proof. I'm much more interested in reliabilty and comfort than performance or driving dynamics, I'm afraid I'm one of those 60mph plodders in the slow lane...

Annual mileage is 15-20k a year but if the petrol engines are more reliable I'd rather spend a bit more on fuel/tax over the years than have to potentially throw £1000's at diesel related problems (dmf, dpf, turbos etc).

Anyway, any thoughts or advice are massively appreciated!

Thanks,

Jamie
