Good garages?

Featured Replies

Just realised its time for service again. 2009 HTP with under 30k on the clock.

I've done a few myself, prefer that way as you know you do it what you believe to be right, also the lack of history is a fallacy, as I keep the purchase receipts for all parts, but not really bothered about value as its lost almost all its value anyway

( bought nearly new for about £6.5K, what are they know, £2k ish most probably same as my 2006 vRS?)

I was wondering about one of the rapid service places I could do at weekend, but do right.

I had tried a local non national place that was on good garage, but had a bit of a run in with a recommended garage of them more over principle when I asked them to investigate a suspension clunk ( which I suspected and told them was bump stops wrong way around and was told almost categorically it wasn't, and after fixing myself because they were clueless turns out I was right, they said it was car lowered too far on standard shocks - wrong )

So I wonder if there are any competent daily garages you can use nowadays? Won't use kwikfit as I think their stories about them rule them out.

Had my own personal horror stories with Halfords too.

I would rule out Nationwide also, they are a bunch of idiots too, left a car a whole day with them once and they hadn't either called or done anything with the car having left all day. Great service.

Heard mixed things about In N out too.

There is a tyre place called SelectaTyre who are very very nice guys on tyres but don't know what they are like on servicing ? Anyone used them ?

Unit 8 are definitely alright, but light years from me on distance and I'm only talking local servicing anyway.

Also dealers too far and too awkward to book in, would be past xmas.

AtS and HiQ are an unknown to me,

Any decent places any more ?

I can personally recommend MJP Eskdaill Street, Kettering or DG motors Victoria St Wellingborough. Both are VW specialists.

I will only let Chris at Stage 3 Tuning in Burnley service and MOT my cars. He's really passionate about cars and very reasonable in price too. Never heard a bad word said about his company either. Lots of my friends use him too after I've recommended him. Hoping to remap the VRS by him after the new year too.
