How to remove connector plug when upgrading headlamp bulbs

Featured Replies

I've heard they are a pain to get off but I've been totally defeated trying to get the connector plugs off from the back of the bulbs!

Has anyone come up with a solution i.e some way of levering it off?

The problem seems to stem from the fact that the bulb doesn't stay in place when you try and pull the connector off - it just moves with it despite being clipped in.

I've tried wiggling/swearing but no joy so wondered if anyone has managed to find a way?

I used a screw driver, but it was pain...

Through great pain and suffering my young friend, you must learn the way of plug removal :D

Just keep yanking and tugging and twiddling and wiggling at the **** until it finally pops out, then have a ambulance on standby to patch up your knuckles when you finally pull the plug and mash your hand into the framework behind it

I struggled so much to remove the plug, I had to drive to a friends house to help me! It does however, get easier to remove with each removal

Was that me? Lol

Take the bulb out first, then remove the connector. That's how I did it.

Was that me? Lol

Nope, this was back in the day ;) had Stormchaser help me :)

Thanks, I'll try removing the rubber cover and unclipping the bulb and see how I get on!

Just be brutal it will come off :)

Slightly OT but hows the Swift going Stormie?

Being brutal may not be good for bulb holder. It's not too sturdy.

Never had trouble with them after changing the bulbs.

@Markyg

Swift is great thanks. On 4K miles now and having fun :)
