Dramatic Lombard Revival Rally

Featured Replies

The Lombard Revival Rally ended this Sunday after 52(!!!!) stages.

On the final day leg4 crews started off in the Forest of Dean. Here Caerwent Forest was a spectacular penultimate stage last year. This year Caerwent showed itself as extremely icy and slippy spiced with cattle grids. More than one crew described what they saw in the forest as carnage. On Lynn Brian Dam Road was one particular stretch where after a blind crest there was sheet ice and a stubborn armco prevented several crews from tumbling down into the reservoir!

Soon after overnight leaders Dale Glover and Sean Ward in a Vauxhall Nova were the next victims after damaging their steering on a rock. And in Legends Park we lost Sophie Robinson/Claire Mole, Volkswagen Polo, Ted Howles/Mike Gray, MG ZR and Adam Wiseberg/Peter Blackett, Renault Clio, the latter team being in the top10 for most of the event.

All this had quite some impact on the overall standings. Owen Turner already retired late last night, but indeed it was his brother Jamie to take the lead again in his MG Metro GTI. Last year

Sounds like a real test , but not sure about the no name drivers ... some of those in the top ten were rallying when I was rallying 20 years ago (unless there are some co-incidental names around !!)

am i right in assuming that this event has a max engine size of 1400 cc ?

That's right the engine limit is 1400cc.

If you read my post it says that 'It seems on first view there were a lot of no-name drivers in no-name cars' not that they were all no name drivers.

Thing is to many in here unless you do WRC you are a no name.
