Standard xenon lights flickering

Featured Replies

As the title my xenon lights occasionally flicker when i'm driving, what could cause this?

They go off for a mili second, i think it's just the passenger but it's hard to tell as it's so quick.

Any one experienced this before?

2008 2.0 CR170 tdi vrs

Cheers

If it's still the original lamps it might be worth fitting new ones.

When i looked into it this was a sign of them starting to fail.

Has the colour started to go towards the blue spectrum from the white? This is also a sign.

I recently got a pair of osram nightbreaker unlimited arc for £103 from power bulbs

7 years old, come/leaving home function enabled?

Time for a new pair of D1S xenon bulbs.

Stick them on your Christmas list!

I replaced the D1S lamps this time last year as one failed and was pink.

I do have my headlights in the 'ON' position, so as soon as the ignition is turned on they are on. So they have had a few hours use, but surely they are designed to last more than a year. I thought possibly ballast, but i do have one of the old lamps which was still ok. I could try putting that back in to see if it cures it.

Which brand of Xenon bulbs did you buy and were they purchased from a reputable source?

Loads of fake Philips and Osram's doing the rounds - the old "if the price was too good to be true....." - I think I paid upwards of £70 each when I replaced mine.

Some times mine do this mines a 08reg one might have them changed then :-/

Which colour temp do I need?

Seen some night breakers one the bay for about £80

I love the night breakers in the Astra I have :)

A good way to check if your osrasms are genuine or not is to open the plastic cover as it should have the QR code on both the plastic cover and inside the circuit board. If they don't and have cheap green circuit board then it is likely to be fake as the packaging has moved on for fakes and almost impossible to tell by the packaging.

Genuine lamps are £65- £80 EACH

Surely they can't sell "fake" night breakers :-/

Oh yes they can, I bought some night breakers off eBay for £72 a pair this summer and it was too good to be true, as they were fake and got a full refund. Expect to £65-80 each for genuine bulbs otherwise they are likely to be fakes.

Ill just wait untill they actually fail completly

As mentioned above, I paid £65 each for nightbreaker unlimited xenarc's from powerbulbs who give a discount when buying more than one d1s bulb. So £103 a pair
