Warranty Questions

Featured Replies

Car is being picked up by my dealer next week (from home  ) for replacement of the front seat covers and temperature sensor under warranty. However, there are a couple of other things that seem a bit odd on my car so would appreciate comments as to whether they are normal or I should get them looked at.

1) the underside of the dashboard (in the footwell) on the passenger side appears to only be some sort of felt and not hard plastic. Is this normal on all RSs/Octys? On mine it has come a bit loose and if you pull it away there are wires etc all over the place - seems very shoddy and cheap :(

2) the ashtray only opens if I push the top edge quite hard and when it does it clicks and opens. I would have thought it should be opened by a gentle press on the lower edge with some sort of "soft" geared release mechanism.

Nothing major but just seems strange

The underside of the dashboard on both sides is a sort of foam - on the passenger's side it should tuck into the underside of the glovebox and be fairly tricky to remove without taking the glovebox off. I've managed to put my foot through the driver's side foam just above the clutch, not really sure how.

The ashtray mechanisms are fiddly things - it does have a gear and a spring, so is suppose to open in a smooth damped progression. I've yet to find one that does this after repeated use... ;)

My old Octy estate had the ashtray problem (not that we smoke) from the very first day I had it. Being brave, fearless and aggreived my car wasnt perfect I investigated the said problem, and cured it with a liberal squirt of GT85 and some "working in".....the problem never occured again and the ashtray was as smooth as silk.

Please note GT85 not WD40...GT85 has a ptfe content in it, smells nicer, lasts longer and doesnt degrease anything.
