PCP Mileage rates

Featured Replies

Hi

I was just checking the pcp finance deals and notice the excess mileage rate has dropped from 7.2p when I got my quote in November to 6p a mile now.  Do you think the 6p rate should apply given I won't pick the car up til mid/late January and assume sign the pcp deal formally then.   On another matter re the mileage limits -  does anyone know if these get checked on an annual basis or is it just when you get to the end of the rental period?  I got my quotes based on an  up to 10,000 miles  p.a mileage total over 42 months so that gives me 35,000 in total  so wondered if as long as I don't go over this total amount over the 42 months I should be ok. I ask  as some years I may do higher mileage than others so hoping it is just the grand total they look at which gives me some flexibility.

Cheers

possibility that it hasn't changed. 7.2ppm is 6ppm plus the vat. So may just be a change in the way they are publishing it...

I thought the same. My agreement with dealer said 7.2 and skoda brochure said 6. But was directed to some small print that shows it is 6ppp Excl VAT.

As for the millage limits that was one of my questions too. Mine is the same as yours and was told from dealer as long as i dont exceed the 35,000 total over the 42 months there would be no excess charges.

ahhh   the old vat malarkey ok makes sense.  That's good re it being the total amount.  Cheers for the answers both

What's the score with at the end of the contract you decide to place a new order for a 30k (again) rather than settle up and move to another marque, do they null the excess mileage as a perk for the new business?

I would imagine that in that event any equity in the car would be reduced or even negative.

I was told going over the mileage is only really a factor if you are handing it back.

If you are taking another car then they would soak up any excess millage. Think what they meant to say is they would probably take it into consideration when working out potential discounts on a new one.
