Vibration after fitting FMIC

Featured Replies

Does anyone else feel any vibration or extra harshness after fitting their fmic?

Feels like there's some kind of resonance going on between 2k and 3.5k rpm that I can feel through the pedals, and the engine sounds more harsh.

Only after fitting fmic.

:)

Have you made sure you have no boost leaks? Is anything vibrating on part of the car?

100% no boost leaks.

It's a tight fit for the bumper and the bonnet rests on the intercooler which is the most likely thing I suppose.

Just horrible vibration through the pedals :(

It really needs mapping. But I'm poor :D

I can't think of any reason a fmic would make the pedals vibrate, that's more clutch and flywheel territory!

Sure you havnt went to test drive it, ragged it and killed the flywheel?! :D

Think he has an SMF as it was a PD100?

It's a THS cooler

I can't think of why it would vibrate either, but not had a fmic, it could have been some kind of symptom.

Definitely not ragged it as it became apparent when stationary after first starting it and doing very low speed.

I'll invesdigate further, just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar thing.

Good choice, THS is the best one on the market IMO :)

I've fitted a THS one on mine and didn't notice any vibrating etc. It's not going to be the slam pannel left loose or somthing silly?

Yeah it seems the best one. Larger core etc and great build quality.

Definitely nothing to do with the slam panel as the cooler has been fitted for a month and it was fine, it's only since I fitted the pipe work last night.

Vibration tells you one thing it's sitting on some something or hitting something, probably the crash bar.

Touching the driveshaft most probably where it drops down from turbo ;)

Easy to see if it has been, you will have a clean part on driveshaft where it's rubbed on it!
