Impressed with screen chip repair

Featured Replies

For anyone that sceptical of screen chip repairs though I would share my experience.

I got a chip in the screen of my Octavia RS just by the ticket holder clip about a 1/4of an inch diameter with the glass having a shattered look caused by a flying stone from a lorry on a German Autobahn. The Chip was annoying but luckily was hidden by a great extent by the ticket holder. Cheesed off as it was a brand new Skoda OE screen that was only just fitted about 2 weeks following an insurance glass claim for a crack again caused by a stone from a lorry:mad:

Decided to get Autoglass to do a chip repair - the result is absolutly amasing no real sign of the repair its clear and chip shattering area has gone - amazing:) and I am a bit of a perfectionist ;)

The repairer said the repair gave good results as it was a fresh chip, the car was garaged and I keep it clean:thumbup:

So those with a clean fresh chip I recommend a repair - worked for me and it was free through my insurance.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Interesting you should post this. I got a chip on my screen on a run down to Heathrow last week. My first thought is repair but is it true that there is an area of glass they can't do? Mine is at about eye level and slightly towards the centre. I've a feeling this is just where a repair is a no-no.

I think there are some guidelines and stuff, I'd give them a buzz they'll be able to tell you what they are able to repair.
