So, the story is. My dad has Been babbling on about a new car & liked my vRS for some time. Mum decided she had heard enough & purchased one for him for Christmas! Lucky sod!

Had a brought in on a low loader and put it away to surprise him on Friday just gone (early Xmas pressie!)

Tar marks, swirls & fall out visible all over the car.. poor dealer prep & improperly washed!

Spent a good two days getting it polished & protected! To elaborate..

-Prewash from AD & KKD Blizzard Snowfoam, both left to dwell for 10 minutes, hog hair brushes in all crevices, door shuts, wheels &pressure washed off.

- 3 bucket method wash with G3 body prep shampoo & Auto Finesse Revolutions for wheels & pressure rinsed.

- Auto Finesse ObliTARate spray on, agititated when needed & pressure washed

- AD purple rain fall out removed Sprayed on entire car, left to work & pressure rinsed.

- Definitive Wax clay bar with shampoo, water mix & Demon shine as clay lubrication, pressure washed & a second 2bm wash and rinse.

- force air dried to get all nucks & crannies. Auto Finesse drying towel catching last little bits.

- Full check of the paint with a glove on incase any missed spots of rough or contaminated paint before polishing.

- swirls weren't as bad as expected so out came the Meguires 205 compound & a green waffle pad. 1/2 passes on each panel left a lovely crisp finish & swirl free paint.

- full Snowfoam & wash again to get rid of any polish residue & dust plus a wipe down with IPA.

- Exhausts polish with Autoglym metal polish, britemax metal twins & sealed.

Protection..

- fully sealed with KKD Si-Coat

- wheels with Madcow wheel sealant

- 1 coat of Definitive Wax Cora

- 1 coat of definitive Wax 0102

- wheel arches with carpro pearl

- trim with KKD trim x

- All glass with Angel Wax h2go!

- Some slight paint chips on the bonnet touched in with a technique I was shown on the day.

Thanks to Stephen (samuir1974) for the help & advice! My dad is absolutely over the moon with the car & now looks better than new! ede17bb643ef7fafa5991c6ab03fecff.jpg85c56d9cfee3a4e8734fb5ceb93b3b53.jpgbaadc63ac57b150d5a310cd85c0e8a64.jpg75645fea5ba2a2a78e19dfbd4f12f8db.jpg0c9e9a5bede0a2b0f9bff6ce6ad03122.jpgc08fe3fe1c1215b6f8ab21bfa1e26a0c.jpg9262bd8002dea013821ede75befe3db9.jpg202436a70224263c770d09ee5ba4c36b.jpg9e17cd986fbc278af98f9ac8f68ab67d.jpg

Nice to see the car on Sunday Karl - it's a real cracker - even although you were only part way through the detail....

Happy to help out on the day with those little areas we tackled..... it came up well.

You really have put some hours in on the White One already - your Dad must be well chuffed with his Xmas pressie!

It will be nice to see it with the updates you have planned as well.

Top work buddy

Enjoyed reading that, I know look at cars in a totally different light since joining this forum. Having looked at mine under lights I can see some swirling. As I have plenty of time on my hands now I might bight the bullet & get a polishing machine & have a go. I have an old panel in the garage from a project that never took off so I will practice on that.

You have done a great job & I am surprised that a "new" car is not aws new as you think.

hahaha - well as I said; if I can locate the LED stash in the garage.... you are welcome to any that fit the Fabia.

Only issue is that I haven't seen them in 6 months+!!!! Oops! :giggle:  ;)

Hey Alecart,

Thanks for the kind comments! That's the way I learnt, using a panel & the works vans! Plus a lot of help from Samuir1974 as he lives close by & has given me a lot of help and advice etc!

I was shocked if I'm honest. Only 4000 miles on it, barley moved to need washing so to see the paint like that was surprising!

Nice to see you active on the forum!

That would be a big help mate if you could please? Maybe show them the white vRS then mine to get a proper idea of what needs doing?

I've had a quote of £120+vat but not entirely sure if that meant the roof spoiler & the side mouldings too so yeah please buddy. Appreciate that!

Mark - where are you getting it done?

I spoke to Expression about having a diffuser wrapped in the summer;

the guys recommended hydro-dipping for a better finish due to the texturing.

So i would be interested if you get different info on this mate.

Well it's not actually getting wrapped a company called car dip uk are going to be spraying it gloss black and apprantly you can treat it like proper paint in terms of washing, polishing and waxing it, and then when your bored of it just peel it off and your back to stock.

Matt at obsidian detailing was telling me about them so of course I wanted a price and now just waiting to be booked in :-)

Sounds great Mark - let us know how you get on.

I am very interested, plus a couple of mates might also be interested in this sort of update.
