Fabia II (1) 2009 model problem with driver's electric window

Featured Replies

I've searched the forum and haven't found a thread which exactly matches the problem:

The driver's window is closed and will not operate from the switch in the driver's door.

The passenger window opens and closes from the switch in either front door. The rear windows are manual.

Both front windows open and close using "turn and hold" with the key in the driver's door  - they both open and close smoothly at the same rate.

A "long pull" up on the passenger window switch produces a "click" after a second or two, but the driver's switch makes no noise, and it still doesn't work after the "reset" with the key described in the step above.

I have not checked the fuses, but (perhaps rashly) assume that as the window can be operated from the key in "reset mode" there is power to the motor.

I have not done the long battery disconnect/reset, will it help?

Is it just the switch?

Is it time to bin the car?

I had to replace both switches a couple of weeks ago, drivers window would go up and down, passenger window went down but not up,drivers side switch wouldn't put it up either,2 new switches and sorted [emoji1]

I'm told it's not the switch.

Will update next week when a skoda garage gets a look at it.

broken switch? Dodge wires in door jamb?

For the cost of the switch it's worth a try,£19 I think it was,I'd been told it was probably a broken wire by skoda [emoji15]

Yes.

window winder motor replaced, all OK, so far.

My comment earlier up "I'm told it's not the switch" was because the switch was changed where it was first looked at, as the result of their "diagnosis", but it did not fix the problem.

I then took it to nearest Skoda garage who correctly diagnosed the motor as the problem, despite it being able to wind the window up and down from the key in "convenience mode"/reset mode.

All things considered I miss a handle to wind a window.... the "systems" in the car are too clever by half.
