alarm and rear wiper on estate

Featured Replies

morning all.

strange thing happened at work today on the car.

Late this afternoon the rear wiper didn't want to work. Then it works interminantly, and evently managed to get some water to spray out of the jet.

got home the alarm decides it wants to start working. Thebdoor warning light is also on. Any one got any thoughts ir ideas at all?

as I'm working on the railway the car does get muddey! :/

not sure if that's got anything tondo with it??

The washer pipe has a reputation for leaking on the Octavia.

There is an electronic module behind the carpet on the left side of the boot, immediately below the weak point on the washer pipe.

When you say you managed to get some water out of the rear washer could you here the pump working all of the time the stalk was pushed? If so (and there is plenty of screen wash in the washer bottle) then chances are you've been filling up the boot (and the electrics) with screen wash.

Another possibility is the boot locking mechanism. There is a micro switch in there that can fail, this could lead the car to thinking that a door (the boot) is open, hence the 'door open' warning on the dash, intermittent operation of the rear wiper and the activation of the alarm.

See here for some other potential leads...
