Change key battery

Featured Replies

Hi "S", yes it's very frustrating,  but the key to the problem is, you've got to have the flashing red light working.

Have you checked the voltage of the batteries ?

When you have cleaned battery did you put it in with bare fingers ?

Just a couple thoughts.

  • Tip: Insert a CR2032 battery instead of a CR2025. They are slightly thicker but last 50% longer, and they fit just fine. I just had to replace mine.

  • Why didn't you use the key?

  • Funnily enough I did this with mine as I had a load of CR2032's spare, and as Orville mentioned, they're slightly thicker (the first two numbers i.e. '20' being the diameter and the latter two numbers

Hi NZ I can't check the voltage since because I'm in lockdown and my voltmeter isn't here with me, I'll have to check these batteries when I can. I'll also try and polish the batteries and try to insert them using a cloth, I did handle the batteries, but only lightly.

I'll try again and report back later 👍

Thanks for your suggestions

Update, new CR3025 battery fitted today and it's working again, I will be making certain that I keep these batteries in as spares.

I'm glad I have 3 key's for the car and all are working again 👍
