Has anybody done bonnet vents on the vrs meant to be a hot running engine would it help in cooling dow?? Would it look good??

Also has anyone done the indicator and sidelight in one if that makes sense

bonnet vents. 32kofdata has those, hasnt he? and it looks bloody good on his i think.. 

The difference is that is a S2000 Bonnet.

The one done with the Monte Carlo is done to a metal bonnet.

 

The water/snow on the bonnet & getting in the engine compartment is going to be an issue to consider if having a functioning vent 

and not just for the style.

 

As to an overheating engine compartment in the UK, is it really an issue on the road, or even for Trackday.

If you need to cool the engine compartment in the pits, open the bonnet.

Bigger radiator, bigger inter cooler, bigger cooling fans, water wetter etc as well as bonnet vents maybe.

I got an S2000 bonnet on mine. Don't get any water or snow in the engine bay whatsoever. Hard to believe but somehow it works. During the summer time it does help with ventilation.

You can tell by looking through an angle and you are able to see the heat rise up through the vents. Especially the side ones.

 

Why not look for a bonnet like mine rather cutting holes to yours which to be honest might look iffy and not as functional for everyday use.

Only downside will be the costs involved.

Is that no water getting in the engine compartment when parked outside in the rain,

or when the bonnet is covered in snow and it thaws?

Maybe drops here and there but no water. The front vents are right above the horizontal beam so you can't get any water in there even if you tried.

The side ones are in an angle and got a raised lip around them to help the water slide away.

Only time I've found water through there is when I jet wash the car and aim directly to the side vents.

 

Never tested the bonnet with too much snow.

With a diesel engine its not so much of an issue getting moisture in the engine compartment,

but with a petrol and particularly a twincharger it is a bit more of an issue.

With a bare bonnet underside (Insulation removed.)  there can be a fair bit of condensation depending on the weather.

I have the Engine Top cover off in the summer, but it is on  in the winter just to keep the Ignition Coils and wiring as dry as possible.

I would be interested in an airscoop mod. Seems to me that in the case of the ITG Maxogen air induction system, the routing of the air intake pipe, being squeezed in between the battery & the wheel arch is at the least very Heath Robinson & surely not efficient. I had looked at rearward facing bonnet scoops, incorporating a water drain, which would surely be a better source of cold air for the Maxogen?

I did find one on the web but now I can't. Look again when I get back to the UK.

Maybe move the Battery to the boot, and run the type of air intake as the Tuner in SA run the Tuned Polo GTI's.

Indeed the car doesn't see much snow. This time of the year the coldest it gets is between 2-4 Celcius around here.

Haven't had any problems with cold starts and I got the bonnet on for over 2 years now.

 

What I do get is a lot more dirt in the engine bay - dust etc.  :thumbdown:

Maybe move the Battery to the boot, and run the type of air intake as the Tuner in SA run the Tuned Polo GTI's.

Looks very neat, but moving the battery to the boot is beyond me, I'm afraid. I would imagine you would need cable in the order of 20mm diameter. How would you route that from the engine bay all the way back to the boot? Other posters have had difficulty getting a thin  wire through the bulkhead/firewall just to power a dashcam.

Ways to do it would be welcome

Or, you can buy a braille smaller/racing battery which are much lighter and leave enough space to do the above mods in those pictures George posted. That's what I'd like to do in the coming new year, as I personally think that's the best set up for this car. The smaller battery's that one member had would need charging if left for around 2 weeks or more I think he said.

Indeed can't remember the member's name but he used to have a white vrs fabia with a number of mods and a Brielle battery. He sold the car a year ago and maybe deleted the thread.
