Hi all 

 

1.6TDI Octavia went in for Timing belt and water pump replacement last week. Car drove fine back from dealership, didnt use it for a couple of days then when hopped in again it went straight into limp mode followed by engine management light. I took it back to garage and they now claim that secondary coolant pump has failed and replacement will cost €350 with the reason being that new water pump installed is more efficient which forced the secondary one to fail. I find this extremely poor excuse and was just curious had anyone experienced similar?

Sounds a bit iffy to me.

 

Isn't the secondary pump (pump 'b') an electric pump?

Yes they said its an electric pump and hence the reason I should pay for replacement  as they swear they didn't touch it during maintenance.
