VRS Suspension/Chasis Setup - Discuss/Help

Featured Replies

Hopefully my last thread, I know I've made a few, lol.

Don't want to spend loads, so somewhat budget but not the cheapest $**t around.

So far got these on my list, I've seen a few things around saying about replacing mounts as well, how much are they going to run me and does anyone have links?

Vogtland lowering springs and dampers 40mm

FK 10mm spacers - 20mm per axle, does that mean 4 for £65 or £65 per axle?

Whiteline RARB

spacers are 10mm per axle = x2 @ £65

I thought so being as second hand ones go for 30 quid for 2, I was unsure because it says 10mm spacers, 20mm per axle which is 2 spacers, 2 axles, 4 total.

Any comments on the parts/setup?

I was told meyle where very good, there are loads on ebay. ie http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-16V-TDI-RS-ROOMSTER-FRONT-SUSPENSION-STRUT-TOP-MOUNT-BEARING-MEYLE-/151209500315?hash=item2334c9de9b:g:kOMAAOxyf1dTKGde

PSB front wishbone bush  = £19

Both meyle top mounts = £50

You used those meyle ones on a vrs mk1?

Man, what are all these wishbone things etc, lol.

96k miles, what should I get along with the lowering springs/dampers?

Yes but the rear to mounts seem to last forever so I personality wouldnt change them.

Probably because they're just lumps of metal.

Yes i use front and rear Meyle top mounts

Bushes on my wishbone where well past their best, so opted for cheap polybushes - last ages, firm things up. Some think too much and up the better ibiza standard bushes in.

 - do you need the foam stops & dust covers? yours might be fine..

There is a built in rubber bush.. mine needed changing. The rubber had become corroded and was protruding out of one of them.

I would change the bump stops whilst everything is apart. You may need shorter ones depending on how low you go. Can't remember what other options are available though.

Elastomer stops are invariably torn, not that it matters, they still do the job.

Just literally replied on your AP suspension post and now seen this haha, I ran the Whiteline RARB along with the AP kit and also 20mm spacers on the rear, they were spaced out nicely but because it wasn't that low it looked a bit silly having wheels that wide out on the rear and having that arch gap, so i went for smaller spacers in the end, 15mm front and rear. Got mine off eBay for around £30 a pair of hubcentrics with extended bolts from Demon Tweeks

Ordered the Meyle front mounts and Vogtland 40mm springs/dampers kit.

Hope that's all I need, lol.
