Fabia 1.2 HTP tyre pressure

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm curious about the tyre pressure configuration on the Fabia and I'm wondering if anyone has the answer!

The label on my car recommends 2.2 bar on the fronts and 2.9 bar on the rears, if carrying a heavy load.  This seems odd to me, as I thought that the most weight would be at the front of the car where the engine and driver are.

I've just bought some new tyres for the front wheels (Continental Premium Contact 5s, 195/55R15), and at 2.2 bar they look slightly under-inflated.  I've got the rears at 2.5 bar and they look fine.

Does anyone know why the pressures are configured in this way, and also whether I should perhaps pump up the fronts a bit more.

I'll be doing a long journey tomorrow, so just wanted to make sure that my tyres and inflated correctly!

Any information would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

If you look under the bonnet of the HTP you'll see that there is no weight at the front end and if you put a bag of sugar in the back the weight bias is practically over the back axle. Just stick with recommended or a little over, that's what I did and it never went wrong.

All I can suggest is, when the car is heavily loaded, it will be over the rear wheels were the increase in load will be. I've looked on the figures for wife's new Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL, and they are FRONT 35>39, REAR 32>41  FUEL EFFICIENT is 39/36 and COMFORT is 35/32 I have set the tyres at 37.5/34.5 for light>medium loaded.

Edit:- just in case you don't know 14.5psi is roughly 1.0Bar(g).

Mine look abit that way too. I know what you mean. I keep meaning to try a few more PSI, but only a few cos too much isnt good is it.

I have thought the same as you in the past

Thanks all for your responses.

Maybe I'll try to balance the pressures a bit more since there won't be much in the car today.

The thing is though, despite the tyres looking abit.. it does ride well, corners as it should etc etc
