Those pesky power steering pressure pipes

Featured Replies

Hi Folks, Advice for a newbie would be most appreciated .

My power steering pipe from the pump to the rack is leaking.

I assume I need a new one soon rather than  using some sort of mastic sealant or other crap on it like I have seen "quality engineers" do in  some part of the third world

Craig from Listers, was kind enough to quote for one which is £185 incl vat  but it is a factory back order.

Surely there must be a cheaper option which members have discovered ?

One option is ebay where I saw one for about £100 but can any one rate these ....?

I read the thread from Skodaphobe about getting a local company to make one for £35.

MY garage mate says he can get the pipe  but, it is the fitting either end which is the bggr.

Thanks in advance you all your wisdom and advice

Enjoy the rest of your Christmas

Pete

Hey Pete,

Best bet would probably be get one off someone who is breaking an Octy here on the forum, see the market place section. You could be lucky and get one that will last several years to come for £20 to £30 plus postage.

Have one here but really need to know the signs of a degraded one.  I know it was fluid tight though as personally drove the car in question, and no problems. :)  Doesn't look too nice from the outside though but could be superficial. :)

Hi I know nothing about them,my Octy is my first foray into Skoda. My mate runs a garage and he would do the fitting. How much do you want for it ?
