wow... we did good mpg over the festive period! post your tankfull mileage!

Featured Replies

we made 405 miles from a tank of 97 in the vRS ... not bad me thinks! post what you have made from a tankfull! this isn't just for vRS owners, would be good to see how much better the other engines are! lets have a list !!!! if you can re-order them correctly! best on top!

1) sharkrider: 405 miles 97 RON CTHE vRS

edit.... measured as follows. fill up. range shows zero, needle on bottom.

Getting about the same 370 miles for 41 litres (9 gallons) vRS CAVE Stage 1. Tesco Momentum 99.

(Just filled up with ESSO Super Unleaded this time since there is a new Filling Station opened locally, In Scotland it comes from Greenergy that produces and delivers the Momentum.)

PS

if that was a brimmed 46 Litre Tank Full it would be 410 miles or so.

(Vented and run near empty 450 miles.)

Looking back on Fuelly the best I've gotten out of the Monte is 346 miles out of 42.5 L of standard Tesco petrol. 36.96 MPG Going fairly quick, as usual. Need to do an economy tank at some point to see what it will do but it's so boring. :(

Best I got out of the 1.2 HTP was 264 miles from 24.4 L of standard Tesco petrol. 49.27 MPG Steady-ish trip, think it was on the way to Rockingham.

Surely the best way to do this is by MPG as the fuel light could be on for ages before some fill up and some could come up on the forecourt. Personally I never let it go on.

its just what happened today on my way home, I had never made it to my folks and back on one tank, so i made an effort, and refused to stop on the way home! lol.... I mean we have all posted miles per gallon, just wanted to know what people had done to a tank :) as something different. Like a "range" thing, that was the idea, for me to get there and back without a fill up :) I'm just interested what range others have made...

Edited by sharkrider

Can't seem to top 310-320 miles of range. I never run much past the fuel light and it's now drinking v-power.

range on the display doesn't count ;) when I was blasting past a few people at lower speeds, 30 miles from home my range said 20 miles.... i still made it home ;) it adjusts to how you drive, when hitting speed limits I slowed, and  the range increased ;) on startup etc , the range will be an average..... you can stretch it substantially :)

I must be heavy footed... I can only get 260 miles out of a full tank... I don't go long distance, probably 6 miles a day? -> if I travel to family then its around 20 miles.......

That is about right.

Just now it takes me about 6 miles before the Oil indicates at 50*oC.

And if going at 30-40 mph and down hill it might be using 30's MPG.

But normally its under 30 MPG until up to temperature.

My oil temperature doesn't even work just displays -- even when I am travelling a longer distance it doesn't give me the temperature ?? Faulty ?

Might be set to Fixed Servicing. I think the oil temp only displays if on Variable

this is correct.

When the Oil Temperature is not displaying just ask a Dealership to plug the car in again and get someone that knows what they are doing to correct what the last person got wrong when they changed it.

PS

Fabiamk2SE,

CAVE and early cars were all Fixed Service and had Oil Temperature available.

What happened with Oil Temps happened after Variable Servicing became available and Technicians were changing the settings.

I would add mine to this but I only ever put £20-30 in at a time (generally what I need for a week or 10 days or so) so I rarely see what I can do on a full tank. The most I've had was about 420 miles I think and that's stage 1 with Shell V Power used exclusively.

The best I've ever had was 380 from a tank. Mine is a 14plate vrs run on 99ron since new. :-)
