Stop/Start - non DSG

Featured Replies

Had a Golf SUV manual car for a couple of days which has stop/start.

Surprised me few times when the engine auto stops whilst you are still physically moving in neutral at about 2/3mph approaching lights etc obviously switching off any power steering....do not get this on my DSG that I have noticed.

You would think the stop/start would need the vehicle fully stopped before activating.

Maybe.

Technically though, you arent supposed to be rolling in Neutral as you arent in full control of the vehicle.

I guess thats how they look at it?

I can defo see what you mean though (:

It will restart if the car is rolling and the engine has stopped. 3-4 MPH IIRC.

It's when you're coasting at 2-3mph and it applies the electronic handbrake and cuts out that's fun.

Turn it off and happy days ;)

Got it back yesterday, new fuel tank fitted to resolve the rattle but it is still there, been out and about properly today no where near as bad but on some rumble bits it does rear its head :(

Also now every time I get in the car it smells like a petrol station for a couple of minutes :(

If this does not clear up soon, I will be taking it back as not sure why I'm now getting Tesco momentum odurs.

Im surprised you havent got fed up and given it em back. Surely theres something under trading standards where you can reject it?

Youve paid for a 300bhp top of the range golf, n youve spent more time driving other models. Thats an expensive Golf Plus youre driving, or whatever it is haha.

Might thhey have under tightenes a bolt when putting the new tank in?

As to the smell... id say fuel pump not sealed fully into the tank. Once its starts running it would warm up a smidge and might self seal?
