Suspension console removal Fabia 1

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've replaced the console bushes on a 55 plate Fabia. I removed the wishbone with the ball joint in situ but couldn't get the bush in with the console in place, cracking one as it failed to align properly. Consequently I removed the console from the car body, removing the 2 large bolts plus unbolting it from the steering rack; am I correct in assuming the front wheels will now need realigning?

Thanks.

I did just to be sure.

You may get away with it, but if you can get it checked for a decent price, it makes sense to do so, especially if the steering feels any different.

I had to replace a console on the missus's car due to a stuck/sheared front bolt, and never got round to an alignment check. Seems fine to drive, and no nasty tyre wear issues in the couple of years since.

Which bushes did you fit? Changing from OE which have a non-central hole for the wishbone spigot to poly types where the hole is central is more likely to cause alignment issues, I should think.
