Yeti or Octavia

Featured Replies

I currently run a 2012 Yeti Se Plus with 1.2 TSI.  Have now decided it's time to get a car with DSG (and hopefully a little more poke).  Good news about engine upgrades since then, but I am torn between an Octavia SEL with 1.4 TSI and DSG and another Yeti 1.2 TSI with DSG (either SE or SEL).

Can anyone throw any light on my problem?

For the city the Yeti is best but at motorway speeds Octavia would be a bit more comfortable and economical IMO.

Steve, can you not get a 1.4 DSG Yeti?

I have never liked small engine autos. Makes the engine work hard most of the time.

How many miles do you do a year?

How about a 2Ltr 110 bhp Diesel auto 2wd? if its made.

You can only get the 1.4 in the L&K and then only have the DSG with the diesel.

Thanks for your advice so far.  I do about 8000 a year, and have seen diesel as the costlier option.  I woulld snap Skoda's hands off if they did a 1.4 TSI with DSG in the UK, but no such luck.

Change it every 3 years. Simples.

At 8000 per year diesel is the more expensive option especially if you are looking at new.  Have you tried a 1.2 DSG?

You've said you'd like some more poke. So if you don't want a diesel DSG Yeti, then your answer is the Octy, with the 1.4 DSG.

They've missed a trick with the Yeti lineup, in not offering the 1.4 petrol in 4x4 guise with DSG. Perhaps there's a technical reason that Haldex and DSG can't be married up, with this engine configuration.

The 1.4Tsi DSG is available in various European countries at various levels of trim, basic to L&K. Skoda UK have decided there's not sufficient demand in the UK for some reason.

OK - wanted to give SUK the benefit of the doubt! They have, yet again, played a blinder! :S

Might be worth considering importing what you want from one of the EU countries that offer the required option. I imported a Volvo, with full UK spec, from Holland several years ago and it was very easy. The reason I did so at the time was a very clear price difference, however whilst that is probably no longer a consideration, if it means you get what you want spec wise, it is worth considering.
