Tints reduce light output regardless of what anyone says or prints. To increase light output you need more power, more power generates more heat and that in turn can cause wiring and or the headlight itself to suffer heat damage.

What HIDs or bulbs are currently fitted? anything above 4300K starts to reduce output as you head into the blue and then purple colour.

I was passed by a VW Polo the other night on the M3 at Winchester, how the driver saw anything in the dark is a mystery as the lights were so blue there was just a faint glow in front of the car.

It's got fly eyes tints so fully legal, currently it's got 6k HIDs I think there pretty **** on unlit sections

Well, there's your problem then. You bought plasma discharge units with blue filters on them, and then stuck another colour filter on the headlight lens as well. Either take the tints off, or fit 4300k units.

I don't care whether you like the ideas or not; all I'm doing is telling you what you need to do to get a better light output.

I think the answer is in the question really....

Agree fully with what mannyo says - fitting higher output bulbs will make more heat, melt the tint film, and possibly the light unit aswell. I had 130w fog light bulbs fitted  and noticed one side was misaligned as the plastic bit that holds the lens in place had dribbled down the lens housing!
