Carista App.

Featured Replies

All cars from a certain year (can't remember what year) have to have the port in a position inside the car that is easily accessible.

I chose to get one of the mini plugs as I was going to buy an app call dash command, this shows loads of info on your iPad whilst driving - oil temp, boost, speed, rpm and a few other things. Never bothered though lol. With the mini adapter you can put the cover back on the dash with it in place

  • Scrap what I said before. The auto lock now works. I think auto lock and unlock have to both be activated.

  • Finally got around to buying a dongle, I bought the one recommended by jonro2009 in Post #14. Works great along with Carista app over WiFi on my iPhone. Haven't played too much, turned on gauge nee

  • My Carista was bought to replace a Gendan VAG scan tool as it had run out of useful life when my cars changed, Carista's "customising" function can be handy, makes you lazy it is so simple easy to use

It's simple enough to use, but I like the idea that you can email the current settings to yourself in case you have an issue like Mole has, you can backtrack from your emailed list.

I'd risk it if I was you, it's only the price of a pint, you can download the app for free and hook it all up and it will tell you what you can do, you don't have to upgrade until it tells you what can be done.

**** me. You should find a cheaper pub mate. :D.

I cant honestly see why it wouldnt work on a Facelift.

Nothing changed regarding that throughout the facelift time on sale as far as im aware?

I've emailed the company asking about the auto lock. See what they say come back with, not sure if any other settings need to be on. I also tried to add auto unlock when key is removed but that also didn't work. Just seems a little odd ever setting works fine except auto lock/unlock.

We have a 2010 Fabia and that works great with Carista. The cut off is most likely face-lift.

Excellent, I look forward to seeing what I can break when my dongle arrives [emoji4]

Great news, worth the money I'd say!

can you use bluetooth on a laptop ?

cheers

I believe you can although I've not tried it, it involves downloading an APK file and I have no idea how trustworthy they are for PCs.

Android/Apple is the best bet, it seems Android (wifi) is the most updated platform, it now has the feature to tell you if your car is part of then emissions scandal #cheatgate

The dongle I bought came with its own cd/software, Don't know how good it is or what it does as I used this app.

Anyone had success using Carista on an Android device? What OBD dongle have you used?

I have, I posted a link to the one I bought earlier on in the thread. No issues, cost £16.10 for the app.

I got my carista Yesterday. Just been having a play...Fantasic bit of kit. To be honest, i was surprised how easy it is to use.. Technology hey, lol.

Anyone living near me (mountsorrel Leics) can borrow it, if wanna have a play. But ote go's wrong DON'T BLAME ME. Might as well get some use out of it, hey !

Does anyone know if you have to pay again, if you use it a different car ??

Pete.

You pay once for the app and that's it, you can use it in different cars. I have a mondeo which isn't supported by carista but the dongle works with another app on my ipad so can use the plug in different cars and makes. I used the same carista app on my Fabia and then a tiguan.

Just in case this influences anyone's choice, the iPhone version of the Charista app also has the VAG emissions check function.

Giving it to others to use, I'd think that the "extended use" license will be connected to the phone being used and not the dongle, but I could be wrong.

That's correct Rum, the licence is to the phone. If you change phones then you need another app and if you want to use it on both platforms then you have to buy it twice, apparently that's an Apple restriction not Android.

If you have say, an iPad and an iPhone then you can share all your purchased apps between all devices on your account. Carista is working on both my iPad and iPhone just like all my purchased apps. Hope this helps.

My dongle arrived this morning so I bought the app and had a but of a play. Came out of this with a couple of questions:

1. I changed the region to Australia but the speed on the middle of the dash is still KPH, anyone know why this is?

2. I turned on coming home lights but they don't seam to work.

Other than that, great app.

Perhaps you have to set mph in instruments as well? I don't have maxidot so can not try for you.

Do you have auto-lights? Otherwise I think you have to flick high beams on arrival to activate according to the app. Might have a play tomorrow if I have time.

Hi, follow me home lights don't work, in my experience, unless as stated above you have auto lights. The main beam flick to activate doesn't work either. I have tried through the app and also via VCDS.

You should be able to cycle through the MFD section on the maxi dot to find the large MPH display and I think in the settings menu while stationary you can select to display the temp on permanently instead of KPH

Mines got a tick box in the maxidot for it.

Also, coming home lights didnt work for me either :(. Auto lights are needed i think. Although i haven't tried the full beam thing
