Carista App.

Featured Replies

If I was to download the app and get the lead. Would I be able to get the lock and unlock beep, and one button press unlock with out setting some self destruct off. Is it user friendly etc?

This is for my Fabia VRS 11 plate.

  • Scrap what I said before. The auto lock now works. I think auto lock and unlock have to both be activated.

  • Finally got around to buying a dongle, I bought the one recommended by jonro2009 in Post #14. Works great along with Carista app over WiFi on my iPhone. Haven't played too much, turned on gauge nee

  • My Carista was bought to replace a Gendan VAG scan tool as it had run out of useful life when my cars changed, Carista's "customising" function can be handy, makes you lazy it is so simple easy to use

Yes

Very user friendly, it's not a lead you need it's an OBD dongle type thing, either Bluetooth or wifi. They are also android or iOS specific so get the right one. Anything you can do with carista is easily reversible, and does not cause any problems. It's a simple on/off choice for each mod. I can't remember what mods are available and I don't have the car to plug it in to and check sorry. You can do the two things you have mentioned though, I remember that as Skoda reset my options when they had the dash out to install cruise control, I used carista to change it back. Did the indicator to 5 flashes, horn active without ignition, teardrop wipe too

Cheers lads, I'll get them bought. Cheap buy for some happiness!

Several OBD gadgets on Amazon. I think I paid about £2.50 for mine. Be warned though you'll need the paid version of Carista to do most things.

Do you need to spend mega buck on a OBD or do they all do the same job? Price difference on amazon is amazing so whats the difference?

Also whats the difference between OBD and OBD2?!

Fabia is OBD2

I don't know the difference between OBD and OBD2, but his is the one I bought and it works fine. From memory, I think the free version of Carista will only let you change from 2 click to 1 click unlocking. You need the paid version for everything else.

How much is the paid version ? And I assume that the wireless obd2 readers on eBay are compatible ?

I ask because I am wanting to do the 1 click lock :)

Also I have just seen the website says 2011+ is this really the case? As mine is a 57 reg not sure what to do

I bought this one, a little more expensive than some but it works with iOS and Android. It worked fine with my 2103 monte and Carista. I don't remember being able to do anything with the free version of the app, other than see the adaptions that could be made once the app was purchased. It is worth it, it's a small price compared to VCDS if you only want to do minor changes, to be honest the dealers should invest in this as the salesmen could use it and help configure the car on collection. Also as it can be used on multiple vehicles you could help others for beer tokens or 50p a mod even, would pay for itself. Mine paid for itself just in satisfaction alone. It's the cost of a trip to the cinema if you look at it that way.

I don't know, it's the same spec so I don't see why although it makes no mention of being compatible with any VAG cars. The lights make sense and the description on the one I bought doesn't mention carista but looking at the carista web page your linked device is supported

Thanks to this thread I am awaiting another delivery!

As it was Christmas recently, I treated myself to this and played very safe by spending a bit more on the Carista marketed adaptor - probably based on reports from other buyers of some cheaper adaptors, though as said already, the Carista site does suggest/confirm which devices are needed in the adaptor.

For the benefit of anyone that has not bought an adaptor yet, if you are an Apple phone user, the Carista adaptor uses Bluetooth to keep your WiFi clear for other uses, maybe in my case for emailing Carista files to my netbook as I am using EE on an iphone 5S so get "EE WiFi Calling" - hardly a deal breaker cost wise though!

Lets see when it arrives then, I didn't actually read the description until I bought it. Didn't think it would matter TBH, but maybe it will. Only £5 so no great loss

Ditto.

One last question - Is the connector under the dash by the pedals?

One last question - Is the connector under the dash by the pedals?

At the bottom of the dash, under the steering wheel theres a panel. If you put your fingers underneath and gently pull, it pops off.

OBD2 port, fuses and sometimes a switch for the DRL's is under there (:

The Carista website suggests that IOS devices use wifi and android uses Bluetooth, is this what you have found?

The text below is from the Carista site:

"The Carista app works best with our own hardware adapter, which is much more inexpensive than any other comparable software/hardware package. In addition, the Carista app works with any standard ELM327 OBD adapter that properly supports the ELM327 v1.4 standard (Bluetooth for Android, WiFi for iOS)."

I see the Buetooth on IOS is on there own version adaptor, so makes sense now.

Correct Wonky, wifi for iOS and Bluetooth for android.

The majority of the ELM 327 OBD adapters should work, I wasn't going to pay the premium to have carista written on it.

Not so, but it is what I was expecting, I can guarantee that if using it with the Carista dongle and an iphone, you will be using Bluetooth.

Got my elm327 wifi adaptor today. Just turn on ignition without starting engine. Plug in. Connect to wifi. Then open the app and connect.

Activated and deactivated the things I wanted. Total £22 spent.

Worth it for the little chirp and getting rid of that automatic rear wipe when reversing that really annoyed me.
