Car insurance NCB after crash, renewals... HELP

Featured Replies

Drove since October 2014

Crash at the end of December 2014, woman turned into me but I got blamed, my insurance was useless and sent me a letter saying they advise I just take the fault for the best deal, I was in a **** place and depressed at the time I didn't even want to deal with it and just left it.

October last year they tried renew me for 2.6k for a 1.6 diesel focus. I saved some money and treated myself to a VRS SE and my went with a different company and insurance is 2.3k around there £190ish a month.

So now it's been a year since the crash but I'm paying monthly for a policy with no no claims bonus. Can I ring them up and say I've now been driving a year with no claims and have them change it??

Thanks.

Nope - It's the amount of no claims at the inception of the policy.  How you're paying for it is not relevant I'm afraid.

It'll be on their system that you're now up to that as they'll know crash date, they quoted knowing this fact so I doubt you'd get anything back . They already know.

Your NCB bonus is awarded at the end of each claim free year of your policy.

The policy you have purchased is for 12months, albeit you pay monthly.

As long as you don't claim during this policy, you will get your 1st years NCB at the end of the term (October 2016). You can them use this when you renew your insurance :)

Thought it probably would be like this, they are all about making money off working men after all!

Thanks guys.

Hi,

If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to take another look at it. Have you had a better premium quoted elsewhere?

Regards,

Dan.

I don't understand why insurance companies don't push for dash cams more.

In incidents like the OP it may have meant he didn't end up paying for a claim that wasn't his fault.

Why?

Why?

Because they would prefer claims to be 50/50 where there is any ambiguity or either party is a lying ****. On average they will still end up paying out for the same number of repairs regardless but this way they can cancel twice as many NCB's. Call me cynical.

Hi,

Just to let you know that a number of our insurance schemes do offer discounts for a wide range of approved in-car cameras.

Dan.
