No Boost

Featured Replies

Well it had to happen in the end!

Out for a drive tonight went to put my foot down from a roundabout and nothing!

No boost at all and the EPC light has come on. Anyone have any ideas why?

Anyone have a VAGCOM local to me that might be able to check the fault codes?

Have to say driving back with just a 1.9 Diesel was different, but at least the fuel consumption was good.

Thanks

Check the hoses under the bonnet - seems to be a common problem on the PD130 and it may just be that one has come off :D

Will do had a quick look as it's the first thing I thought off but it was wet and cold! I'll check that in the morning.

I was just saying to jason the other day that I've been lucky with my fabia that nothing has gone wrong, tempted fate some what!

I would say a hose would be favourite Mike. Also if you've been poking around under the lid check the MAF sensor plug hasn't come off.

you would know if a pipe has come off.. as it wouldnt run right and would smoke like a mofo! - it wouldnt go into limp mode straight away either

youll probably have charge pressure control - positive deviation logged

and i bet its fine in the morning :)

Don't drive it whillst it is like that. Mine did exactly the same. Everyone thought it was just a pipe off. It was a blown turbo. There were bits of inlet impellor right through the intercooler & into the motor.

It needed a new turbo & motor! Hope you are luckier.

Col,

I wish you was right :( this morning the light is still on and there is no boost!

Checked most of the pipes I can see and all seem on all ok, MAF is in place.

There is a tube like object on the left hand side of the engine bay (when you looking in) that has 4 pipes coming out, 2 of which go towards the back on the engine underneath where the inlet pipe is. One of the pipes (attached to another solid thin pipe) is very loose where as the other isn't. Could this have anything to do with the problem?

I'd rather not take it to the dealer as it's a bit of a trek for me

Was that on a standard car or one that was remapped to raise the boost?

Is this something covered by the AA cover, or is that purely for breakdowns?

Chris

The AA will come out for an engine light and tow you to a dealer - it doesn't have to stop to be a breakdown.

I guess I will have to call out the AA tomorrow morning and have it towed to the dealership, I'm guessing that wont take it to the one of my choice but the closest one!

Lets hope it's nothing bad :o

On the plus side the AA will give you a car for two days. Remember your licence and ask for the car before you get towed else they may ask the dealer to supply one and they may charge.

Obviously, the car was completely standard which is why Skoda honoured the warranty.

At the time of the incident the car was in the Eifel region of Germany where I was on a "sight seeing holiday."

Despite the unfortunate event I still think it is a great car & on the road I prefer it to my Boxster, Clio Cup or MX5 as a road car. I can't praise it enough.

Problem is though Mike, yours isn't quite so standard... :(

Good luck with the fix pal.

I had forgotten about the exta cooling facility you have fitted. Have you had a good check around that??

If I were you i'd see if you can get the codes read off first. I know Jeff (Roo) isn't a million miles away - perhaps he could help.

I too had forgotten that. I'll be listening out for the problem/solution, especially as your mods are very similar to those I would like to do to mine!

Double check that AA will provide a hire car if they collect your motor from your address.

I have some recollection that they only provide hire car if it's a roadside rescue... not a home rescue????

I may be wrong tho

Nope you're dead right. Drive it a couple of miles away from home and then ring them. Ive done it before with my old car when the clutch was about to go ;)

I think you will find the Skoda included cover will give you Home Start.

What do you mean Tom? My is totally standard honest! :o

I'll give Roo a PM and see if he can help out, failing that I will drive the car into the sticks and call the AA.

Cheers guys, here's hoping it's nothing major! :(

hmm cant say this sounds too good. Hope for your case Mike its nothing serious. If it is I hope it'll be done under warrenty.

Good Luck.

Cheers John, I just have a bad feeling it's going to be expensive! It's my own fault I was praising how great the car was on Friday to people in the pub!

I guess if it's the turbo* it will give me an excuse to upgrade it!

*please dont be the turbo!

"cough"

Hmmmmm sounds good but expensive :D

Well a big thanks to jeff for having a look with VAGCOM. It's not the boost controller, but something totally different.

I'll post more when I've got it fixed ;)
