Mk2 Elegance multi function steering wheel

Featured Replies

Did Skoda fit a MFSW to the mk2 Fabia Elegance?

I/we are hoping to go and see/buy a 14 plate at the weekend and it has the standard wheel, so I was wondering if it could be retro fitted, I have one on my 15 Octavia VRS and now I've got the hang of it find it a brilliant bit of kit.

my 57 Octavia elegance had a MFSW.

Yes it can be retrofitted, but youre better off using one off another model if you have Maxidot.

Reason being, the Fabia only got the left side stereo controls and the right hand side of the wheel is just blank.

If you fit one off another model, you can have the left hand stereo controls, along with the right hand controls to do the Maxidot. How it should be IMO.

I've got a Yeti MFSW fitted. I'll see if i can get you a pic :)

Sort of answered my own question, available from Superskoda @ 349euro.

What if any wiring do I need and I presume it has to be activated with vcds.

When buying make darn sure it's not an Octavia III wheel as this won't work. e.g. Not one of these http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/three-spoke-steering-wheels-2/oem-5e0419091be-lrn-stw-skoda-octavia/  but one of these will work http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/three-spoke-steering-wheels-11/oem-3t0419091aj-multifunction-steering-wheel-for/

You will need three wires added, two for the power supply and one for the LIN communication bus.

interesting. Whats different to the mk3 octy steering wheel do we know? it looks the same, pretty much?

out of interest this is, I've no intent to change haha

The standard Elegance doesn't have the multi function steering wheel.  Could be ordered as an extra from the factory or retrofitted.  But not standard.

Both controls can be bought separately along with the loom I believe?

Depends what wheel you already have i think.

The standard fab plastic one doesnt have the option.

Mines the facelift wheel, I'm guessing the controls can be transplanted into it without having to actually change it?

Sorry for the delay in answering. Everything looks the same but the electronic interface protocol changed.
