Polishing Machine (low cost) advice please

Featured Replies

Nice spot Stew!!!! Thanks for the heads up and thanks for the link Ste!

It is a nice find - would be good to read some reviews on it; as its a serious contender for very low entry level.

Put a decent set of pads on that and i'm sure it would do a good job!

No worries mate.

Machining takes a lot of prep, time and patience. It will take around 6 hours to prep and machine polish a car, probably longer. Ideally, I try to leave two days to do it on a car the sizew of an Octavia.

There are some really good products out there now that fill in the swirls really effectively to leave you with a really good finish. 50cal Filler Glaze, KKD Regloss, Autofinesse Ultra Glaze, etc. There are plenty. Stick a decent wax over the top and you will be good for a couple of months.

While I ponder some more, I have gone with your suggestion and ordered a bottle of KKD Regloss, I will report back as soon as this damn weather improves a little...

Nice one. I look forward to hearing how you get on!!

Ok chaps.

At last a break in the weather so I had a chance to have a crack at Neil's suggestion of KKD Regloss.

I haven't got any images I'm afraid but suffice to say I'm impressed, after a thorough 'traditional' hand wash and an absolute age removing tar spots (where does it come from this time of year?) I popped on some of the product and retired to the garage for 5 minutes to fiddle with my bike restoration.

On my return, buff off with a microfibre cloth and hey presto, a lovely shine and probably the wettest look I have ever achieved!

Seriously, very pleased with the result, it really does what it says on the tin and it seems a little goes a long way so good value as well.

So, big thanks to Neil, great suggestion, recommended product.

No update on the polisher, still investigating...

Nice one - thanks for taking the time to report back.

KKD ReGLOSS and their products in general -perform very well indeed.

On the polisher front - the cheap Argos deal has been getting lots of attention; here and

on the Facebook forums - but as yet - no-one has purchased and/or reported back.

Cheers,

Ste.

Awesome buddy. Glad you really liked it! Thank you for the feed back. It was only a product I had read about and have not had chance to try myself, I've tried 50cal Filler glaze, and have ultra glaze to try. So, it was a suggestion rather than a recommendation and I was a little nervous when you said you had bought it!! Not normally something I would do, but it needed to be suggested in that bunch as the reviews by real life users were so very positive and the results from the pics I've seen are outstanding.

After reading your thoughts on it, I will certainly pic up a bottle, hopefully CYR will do a sample bottle!

The polisher looks ideal to me but what do I know? I'm seriously considering one but I very much doubt I'm your man for an in depth product review! :)

Don't be nervous buddy, I have read enough of your posts to know that you're not the sort of person who posts c**p. In addition, I'm certainly not the sort of person to take advice like that without doing a little investigating myself before committing.

Sometimes I just need good guys such as yourself to point me in roughly the right direction. :)

Thanks guys.

Clearly my idea of 'low cost' is rather different to yours, as this will be used infrequently, I'm not sure I really want to go down the £140+ route at this time.

That said, your advice is as always greatly appreciated, thank you.

As the saying goes...buy cheap buy twice.
