new battery

Featured Replies

What is the largest size new battery I can fit to my mk1 VRS?

Last time I checked here people recommended the Varta D15 027 size?

Is there anything bigger that people know will fit?

Not sure, think the tray may be the limiting factor, why do you need a larger one.  The Varta D15 fits and slightly more capacity too.  Taller.  Same as the Bosch S5 005

I don't mind spending a wee bit more if it gives me any benefit.

I know you recommend the 027 varta d15 - do you have one fitted?

I have the Bosch S5 005 before I realised the Varta was the same battery!!

I take it you have 027 size?

any reason to consider any other battery than the varta?

Yep 027.  I just bought the most powerful one that would fit.  That seemed to be the one to go for!

one related question

how does the car act if the battery is failing ?

Just had mine replaced. Was having occasional problems starting then it didn't even attempt to crank. New battery fitted and problem solved

mine just felt like it was struggling to start some times - especially in colder weather, when the first second or so of starting seemed noticeably slower

hi folks just as an aside i have octavia mk1 24v 1.8t which battery is best to fit the 012 or 027 ? apparently both will fit but unsure of whats best cheers

The 027 sized Varta D15 I put in has been superb so far - I'd not hesitate to recommend it.

It is 600CCA and replaced the old one which was 420CCA - no wonder starting is now instant bearing in mind the old one was getting long in the tooth.

I got mine cheapest at battery megastore - discount codes are out there too.
