We've had -30 c for a week now. Started the car, had it idling 15 min, jumped in, tacho needle went dead as I sat there, engine still running. Couldn't move the gear leaver (dsg). Killed the engine and tried to restart. When i push the button (keyless go) the gauge cluster lights up, the display works (shows radio station etc.) but only one warning light comes on (red steeringwheel for 2s) then no WL what so ever. 

 

WTF.

All the breakers are checked with multimeter and are fine. Both in the car and under the hood. My guess is ground problem or some other melt down on some of the common wires to these modules. None of the other modules tell anything of significance. No can-error or such. Oddly enough, the gateway list says the ECM is fine, but i cant make a connection to it.

 

WTF.

 

Any one got the wiring diagram? A schematic picture of the common ground-points? A clue at all?

Ok, so what error codes have come up?

 

What voltage is the battery measuring at the moment? (11.70 mentioned above a lot - sounds too low! - system self preservation?) - If battery is getting on a bit then can usually fail when the temperature drops - especially  to -30!

 

 

If battery OK, have you considered turning it off and on again - by disconnecting battery for 20mins

After I've studied the wiring diagram for the better part of this evening I tripple-checked breaker no.6 and it was no good. 

 

Talked to a friend that works as a Skoda mechanic. He said that there is a common problem with haldex cars and the skoda-world supported fix was to replace it with a 7.5A (instead of 5A)

 

It powers the instrument cluster and the Diagnostic interface. And the haldex-pump. Guess the -30 haldex oil was hardly flowing at that point.

 

Now I'll sleep like a baby.
